The Dental Clerk I performs under the direction of the Director of Dental Services and in compliance with all levels of staff responsible for the dental services and dental health program in the dental clinic.
The Clerk I is responsible for clerical tasks pertaining to the dental clinic involving the preparation of reports and correspondence and serves as a receptionist.
The Clerk I is responsible for serving as a backup to the clinic dental assistant and must complete and retain all necessary training standards to perform these duties.
Essential Job Functions:
Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
Produces and proofs correspondence, reports, purchase orders, manuals, vouchers, records, and other related forms.
Edits and updates policy manuals and procedures as needed.
Files and maintains logs, supplies, forms, records, and reports.
Assists in conducting physical inventory.
Provides customer service to both internal and external customers employing basic professional customer service skills.
Displays respectfulness and courteousness with a positive professional attitude and demeanor.
Maintains office schedules and appointments and performs as thereceptionist.
Makes arrangements for repairs and services with hospital staff or vendors.
Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response.
Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment or location.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Knowledge of office procedures:
including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic math.
Knowledge of HIPPA laws and Joint Commission compliance is preferred.
Knowledge of general clerical procedures and office administration.
Ability to prepare and maintain records, files, and reports.
Ability to demonstrate intermediate skill level in creating Word documents, and Excel spreadsheets.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality concerning patient information.
Skilled in using a personal computer and accompanying software (Word, Excel, Outlook) and office equipment (fax, phone, copier, etc.
).
Must always conduct self in a professional and courteous manner while interacting with the public, patients and staff.
Registration or Licensure RequirementsNone Initial Selection Criteria High School Diploma or GED is required.
Documented one year office experience Dental office experience is preferred.

The posted salary range reflects the minimum and maximum allowable by state law.

As a result, state hospital policy requires employees be vaccinated according to their level of contact with individuals.
