Clerk I will be required to float to all areas in Food Service and may work unusual hours in the event of a disaster or operations necessity.
The Clerk I will work under the general supervision of the Inventory Store Specialist I.
Work involves receiving, checking, storing, and issuing equipment and food supplies.
This includes organizing, maintaining, and cleaning the stock rooms and vaults; rotating food items according to the first in first out method; handling food items according to the Texas Department of Health guidelines; and assembling, weighing, measuring, and issuing ingredients from production documents and/or the menu.
Delivers supplements and other food items as needed.
Assist in picking-up emergency purchases to include food items from cold storage and vendors' warehouses when necessary.
Assists with monthly and periodic inventories.
The Clerk I must have a valid driver's license.
Additionally, the Clerk I must be able to lift 50-60 lbs.
Essential Job Functions:
Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
Receives and stores food items using the guidelines established by the TX Department of Health specifications.
Dates all items upon receipt.
Stock is rotated using the first-in, first-out method.
Loads and unloads, assists with inventory, assists with estimates of stock, supplies, and/or merchandise.
Assists with filling orders with packaging and mailing or delivering items.
Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.
Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Skill in using a personal computer and office equipment.
Ability to prepare and maintain records, files and reports.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Graduation from a standard high school or GED preferred, supplemented by accounting experience in the food industry is preferred.
Experience and education may substitute for one another.
Knowledge of warehousing methods and procedures.
Understands temperature danger zone of food products.
Ability to transfer stock from one location to another, assist in reviewing warehouse and store operations for compliance.
Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
Registration or Licensure Requirements:
Must have a valid Texas driver license or obtain it no later than 90 days after hire date to drive a state vehicle.
Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
Eligible driving record required based on HHSC Fleet Management policy.
Initial Selection Criteria:
Clerical experience.
Experience in preparing and maintaining records, files, and reports.
Graduation from a standard high school or GED preferred.
Experience in Food Service ordering, inventory, and/or delivery is preferred.
