The Psychiatrist III is under the general direction and supervision of the Clinical Director. This position will coordinate, control and direct the planning, organizing, and other activities of all supervisory personnel of the unit in executing administrative and treatment programs for clients served. Responsible to insure that all functions within the assigned ward meets compliance with Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) guidelines, Medicare standards, DSHS Commissioner's Rules and Directives, and facility policy and directives. Directly responsible to the Clinical Director for Programs and coordinates with discipline directors (Psychology, Nursing, Social Service, Adjunctive Therapy, and Chaplaincy). Provides treatment to HHS employees injured in course and scope of employment.Essential Job Functions:
1.Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. 2.Performs and completely documents assessments at the time of admission appropriate to patient need and within standards of Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, hospital policy, and TDSHS policy. 3.Plans, directs, supervises and implements treatment that is medically necessary and clinically justified of individual patients in conjunction with an inter-disciplinary treatment team. 4.Documentation in patient's medical record is clear, concise, and identifies target symptoms. Documentation is appropriate to level of care patient required and addresses referrals as appropriate.5.All patients receiving special treatment procedures are seen within one hour and documentation reflects this requirement. 6.Ability to perform essential functions in the Clinical Work Station (CWS) 7.All laboratory requests/results, consultation request/results, and required annual assessments will be accomplished and acknowledged within appropriate time frames. 8.Maintains Medical Staff Credentials and Privileges appropriate to position 9.Maintains licensure, permits, certifications, and Continuing Medical Education (CME) 10.Documentation and Billing records are accurate, timely, complete, and reflect all professional and ethical standards. 11.Provides and monitors Unit Policy to meet standards for compliance with accrediting agencies; specifically JCAHO guidelines, Medicare Standards, Commissioner's Rules and Directives, TSH Policy and Directives and DSHS ITPS/MHRS Standards. 12.Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.Knowledge Skills Abilities:
1.Demonstrates knowledge and expertise in general and community psychiatry. 2.Expertise in evaluating patients, setting up and carrying out an effective course of treatment utilizing the abilities of other clinical personnel. 3.Thorough knowledge of the principles of the development, implementation, and documentation of individualized care and treatment plans and ability to direct other clinical personnel in this activity. 4.General managerial and supervisory knowledge, skills, and ability to efficiently plan, organize, direct and control a multiple disciplined professional and paraprofessional staff in a complex psychiatric unit within a large state facility.Registration or Licensure Requirements:
1.Currently hold, in the process of obtaining, or eligible to request a Texas Medical license.2.Federal DEA RegistrationInitial Selection Criteria:
1.Graduation from an approved accredited college. 2.At least three (3) years residency training in psychiatry. 3.Currently hold, in the process of obtaining, or eligible to request a Texas Medical license. Board certification or board eligibility desired. Additional Information:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
