The SHS is comprised of nine psychiatric hospitals located throughout the state, and one youth residential psychiatric center in Waco. The SHS is a hub of excellence for forensic mental health and complex psychiatric care, with all facilities accredited by The Joint Commission. The hospitals provide state-of-the-art treatment that is recovery-oriented and science-based. Whether in a direct-care or support role, your contribution will make a difference in the life of a Texan. Works schedule is undetermined and flexible but will require some evening coverage (6-9 PM) 3-4 times a week and weekend coverage 1-2 times per month. Possible shifts being considered include 12-9 M-F or 9-8 M-T-Th-F.The Staff Nurse II performs complex nursing work at the proficient or expert level in a state mental health hospital. Works with limited supervision from the Director of Rehabilitation and has considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Coaches and teaches subordinate staff in the provision of population-specific nursing care and treatment. Administers medications in compliance with facility policies and procedures. Conducts extensive assessments of the patients' nursing care needs including initial and ongoing assessments. Develops, implements, or supervises the implementation of population-specific nursing interventions based on acceptable nursing standard of care and relevant evidence. Acts as a nursing team leader in collecting patient data and contributing appropriate information to the formulation of the patient's interdisciplinary treatment plan. Must understand that duties, location of work, shift/pattern are subject to change as determined by the administration to meet the needs of the hospital. Duties may include exposure to blood or other potentially infectious material. Performs advanced (senior level) or therapeutic rehabilitation work. Work involves coordinating therapeutic rehabilitation activities for patients within a program area and developing protocols for an assigned program in rehabilitation therapy services. Maintains licensure, registration, or certification in their area of expertise. Works under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Director of the Rehabilitation Therapies department. Leads groups in the areas of health and wellness therapeutic activities and provides feedback regarding clients' progress. Prepares materials for therapeutic activities and maintains rehabilitative therapies equipment. Writes progress notes of observations related to client objectives and supervises the notes of others. Plans goal-directed adaptive activities according to the patients' needs. Performs related work as assigned. Essential Job Functions:
1.Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. 2.Nursing interventions in accordance with facility policy and procedures. 3.Develops and implements training for subordinate staff. 4.Performs extensive initial and ongoing assessment of the patient's nursing care needs to include medical, psychological, and social needs. 5.Develops and implements population specific nursing interventions based on accepted nursing standards of care and through review of current evidence. 6.Collaborates with other health care professionals by contributing nursing assessment data, problem lists, and interventions to be recommended of the multidisciplinary treatment plan. 7.Evaluates the outcomes of nursing interventions and documents the same in the medical record. 8.Provides comprehensive patient education regarding health and wellness. 9.Administers medications and other principles of population-specific nursing care, unit routines, facility policy and procedures, management directives, and milieu management, etc. 10.Acts as team leader in emergency situations (i.e. medical or psychiatric emergencies) including initiating and monitoring the appropriate use of resuscitative equipment or restraint/seclusion. 11.Demonstrates a commitment to a culture of safety that promotes respect, dignity, and a reduction in risk to both patients and staff through support of the hospital's safety and risk management plans, infection control programs, and restraints and seclusion elimination strategies. 12.Responds proactively to avert crisis, but effectively in all psychiatric emergency situations to avoid need for physical intervention. 13.Monitors Treatment, Intervention, Protection, and Strategies (TIPS) 1 ? 6 and, in the absence of other staff, implements TIPS 1 ? 3.2 14.Serves as a role model while conducting activities and engaging with patients in order to provide rehabilitation therapeutic interventions as outlined on the treatment plan.15.Supervises rehabilitation therapies staff, which includes but is not limited to direct supervision of rehab clinical services, tracking leave and training, and personnel issues.16.Procures and prepares materials for therapeutic activities in order to maintain an adequate supply and conduct activities as scheduled.17.Escorts patients to and from hospital activities and functions.18.Ensures employee files of direct report staff are current and contain application materials, documentation of department orientation, job competency evaluations and other employment documentation as indicated. 19.Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.Knowledge Skills Abilities:
1.Extensive knowledge of nursing procedures and practices. 2.Extensive knowledge of the Texas Nursing Practice Act, Rules and Regulation of the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas. 3.Ability to provide population-specific, evidence-based nursing care at the proficient or expert level to an assigned patient population. 4.Ability to perform an extensive assessment of the patients nursing care needs to include medical, psychological, and social needs. 5.Ability to formulate population-specific nursing diagnoses for the assigned patient population. 6.Knowledge of leadership or management principles as they apply to the unit or hospital setting. 7.Knowledge of teaching principles in order to provide both patient and staff education. 8.Ability to communicate effectively with others in one-to-one or group interactions. 9.Comprehensive knowledge of safe and appropriate use of restraint or seclusion as an intervention in the psychiatric setting. 10.Ability to develop and implement evidence-based nursing interventions appropriate to the assigned population. 11.Ability to provide leadership in the management of both medical and psychiatric emergencies. 12.Ability to obtain certification for basic Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and ability to perform and/or supervise the implementation of CPR in the clinical setting. 13.Ability to complete TIPS 1 ? 32 prior to working on a patient care unit. 14.Ability in leading individual or group health/wellness sessions, preferred.15.Knowledge of general computer skills and Microsoft Office programs, preferred. 16.Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred.Registration or Licensure Requirements:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
